From personal experience the common most residential mistake I have come across is 3 wire home runs not split on the phases. It allows the neutral to potentially be exposed to 2x the current rating of what it's rated. 14/3 neutral could carry 30 amps 12/3 could carry 40 amps. Make sure the 2 hots on the 3 wire are not on the same phase and your all good.
