Friday the 12th was the Opening Ceremonies, which a feast & Arctic Sports was held that day. The Mayor, Mervin Gruben did the opening speech, Fred Wolki said a prayer, & everyone dined and enjoyed the evening at Kitti Hall. There are very impressive competitors for the Arctic Sports Competition and also many Volunteers that cooked, baked, and helped out with the feast. Emerald Kimiksana was our little helper with setting up for the feast, Jenny Jacobson made the cake, and the cooks for the feast were Dolly Felix, Francis Anderson, Caroline Kudluk, Nellie Avik, Denise Cockney, Tina Kikoak, & Sylvia Panaktalok. The Hamlet of Tuk would like to give a big thank-you to everyone who came out to Celebrate and Join us in the 2018 Sikiniq Nuimavia Katijvikput.

The games went amazing! thank-you Darlene Gruben for helping demonstrate the muskox wrestle, arm wrestle, and leg wrestle. The tug o war & harpoon throw went amazing as well! The People who came out today, participated in the games, fishing derby, & watched and enjoyed the time outdoors, sure brought out the spirit today. People were learning how to play traditional games, had tea, & ate native food in the warming tent as well. Lovely day again! thank you all for coming out.
