Sheffield Park Black History and Cultural Museum is living history of the Black Settlers in the Collingwood/Owen Sound areas, the two northern terminals of the Underground Railroad system. Visit our 11 display buildings as you enjoy the Heritage Walk around 11 acres of natural setting. Open May to October, Tues to Sat 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

When you meet wonderful people, wonderful things happen! Last February, we met some amazing friends from the USA on a ski weekend here. But special heartfelt thanks to the special ladies of "Carved Out Divas, especially Denise & April, for their kindness and generosity from a fundraiser event held in Tampa, Florida. Hope you will come back to Sheffield Park (in warmer weather) so we can thank you in person. Big hugs to all you wonderful divas!!!

The travelling exhibit "Enslaved Africans in Upper Canada" is here and you can view the entire Black History presentations at Heritage Community Church, 310 Seventh Street, Collingwood on Wed & Thurs afternoons, 1:00 - 3:00 pm until the end of March. And yes, Canada owned slaves, too! Come, read their stories for yourselves!

The second travelling exhibit, "Enslaved Africans in Upper Canada" will be arriving soon. Sheffield Park Museum is presenting these exhibits at Heritage Community Church in Collingwood on Wed & Thurs afternoons, 1:00 -3:00 pm til the end of March. Discover how people of colour, not only survived, but laid the foundation for future opportunities and achievements like those of Anne Packwood. Mrs. Anne Packwood, daughter of former whaler Morris De Shield, is the longest serving member of Quebec's oldest African-Canadian Institution, the Coloured Women's Club (founded 1902). She has served as secretary of Montreal's Universal Negro Improvement Association and has been a foster parent to countless African-Canadian orphans.
