The City of Thompson continues to encourage residents to report pot holes and hot spots as the excessive melt continues to accelerate the formation of road hazards. Public Works will not be able to address road erosion until after the spring melt subsides, as hot asphalt cannot be applied onto wet and flooded areas. Motorists are advised to avoid driving through standing water on roadways whenever possible, as the water may hide hazards beneath. Please be aware that vehicles may be shifting lanes to avoid road hazards. When shifting lanes to avoid hazards, please yield to oncoming traffic. Please report potholes, hazards, and hot spots to Public Works at 204-677-7970. The City of Thompson thanks you for your cooperation.

An update on water service and the current water break, March 29, 2017: Public Works expects that extreme drops in water pressure will continue from the hours of 10pm-2am over the next several days, due to ongoing work with the water break. Public Works will also continue to address smaller, ongoing breaks as they appear. While the water break has not breached the surface, the outflow is heavy enough that reservoirs at the Water Treatment Plant are becoming depleted. Public Works must shut down water service during this time in order to replenish their wells. Public Works is asking for assistance from residents to conserve water usage where reasonably possible during their daily activities. Reducing the load on the City’s water system during the day will allow more time for reservoirs to replenish, and reduce the time that water will be disrupted in the evening. For more information, please contact the Public Works department at 204-677-7970. The City of Thompson thanks you for your cooperation.
