212 acres of serene Nature River view walking trails; camping, cedar barn, farmhouse, The Wharncliffe Indigenous retreat is a facility/school which provides a unique Anishnabeke experience rooted in the original instructions. The Centre is founded and developed by Indigenous women who live and honor a traditional way of life that aligns with the original instructions. The original instructions are embedded in the indigenous languages/land. The languages embody the teachings of the spirit world, the traditional ceremonies, and teach us how to care for the spirit of the ancestors. They teach us our roles and responsibilities as Indigenous women. They provide guidance to develop relationship with ourselves and each other, our ancestors and all of creation in a way that ensures collective healing. Within the experiences, all four aspects of the self, spiritual, emotion, physical and intellectual is honored as part of the whole and shared in an integrated approach in service of personal and collective wellbeing.
The facility is located on the Mississagi river valley and totals 212 acres of sacred land with a sacred forest, ceremonial grounds, and mountains. The facility offers each person with an opportunity for a deeper connection with the voice, the sound, and the spirit of the ancestors.
The facility includes a Retreat Center, a Learning Center and a Medicine Lodge that incorporates the elements of water, earth, air, fire and ether. The experiences shared at the facility range in healing and traditional ceremonies, shamanic principles, nature’s wonder and serenity.
The intention of the facility is to create a sacred space for women to heal, to learn, to grow, to experience, to become wholesome women and to remember their aliveness in accordance to the original instructions.
