Home - Army Run
Attention all newbie runners, advanced walkers and anyone who just wants to get outside and gradually up their cardio game! If you’ve ever aspired to run a 5K, come and join AF’s FREE weekly running club! Starting June 8th, our trainer Sam “Calves of Steel” Shorkey will be leading practice runs around Dow’s Lake leaving from our Little Italy location every Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. Each week, we’ll run together as a group and gradually build up our distance week after week starting with a half mile and increasing by a half mile each week. The end goal (and end to our kick-ass running club) will be September 16th when we participate as a team in the Canada Army Run (http://armyrun.ca/.) We’ll also be fundraising as a team for “Soldier On” and the “Military Families Fund” (two Canadian Armed Forces funds that provide assistance to ill and injured soldiers and military families in need.) It will be a great way to socialize with your fellow gym members AND build up your cardiovascular endurance so don’t miss it! All running club members will also receive a free AnyTime Fitness t-shirt AND healthy post-run treats. We’ll also be forcing a different trainer to participate each week. Ever seen a bodybuilder run? Neither have we! That alone will provide us with great running entertainment. We hope to see you for our first half-mile run on Wednesday June 8th at 6pm.
