To Our AMAZING Tech Assistants (TA's)!! These ladies have the toughest job behind the scenes in our busy veterinary clinic. They make our jobs so much easier, and provide our patients with the utmost of care and TLC! TA's do everything from holding pets for procedures, to cleaning, sterilizing surgical instruments, helping prep surgery patients, taking phone calls, giving kitty and puppy cuddles, keeping kennel beds tidy, and walking dogs outside for bathroom breaks. They get pulled in three different directions by the vets and techs and that is a task in itself! We appreciate all of the little and BIG jobs that they do for us each and every day! From all of the Team here at the ACC, A very special THANK YOU to Lorraine, Annette, Ali and Christine for EVERYTHING that you do!!!

Parasites in Bovine. Parasites in cattle can impair their health, reproduction, growth, productivity and hide quality. In some very severe cases parasites can lead to death of an animal. Cattle can be infected with both internal (e.g. worms, flukes) and external parasites (e.g. lice, mange, ticks, fleas). Internal parasites can be passed within the herd by either ingestion of eggs / larvae in feces or contaminated grazing pasture. External parasites are typically passed to herd members via direct skin contact or through contaminated scratching devices. We suggest deworming your herd in the spring before they head off to pasture and when they come back from pasture in the fall. If you have questions about deworming products for your cattle please feel free to contact us. #bovine #parasites

Silent thieves and killers. Intestinal parasites in horses can cause extensive internal damage without us even knowing it. Horses can show a wide range of clinical signs anywhere from no signs at all, to a dull hair coat and un-thriftiness, to colic and ultimately death in severe cases. We recommend having an analysis of the manure performed every spring. This is called a fecal floatation and will determine what types of parasites your horse may be harboring and how many eggs are being shed onto your pastures in the manure. Based on these values, a deworming recommendation will be made for your horse and your herd health program. It is only recommended to deworm high-shedding horses at this time of year. Not every horse needs to be dewormed routinely as this may contribute to the development of parasite resistance to commercial deworming products, which is an emerging issue in the equine industry today. For more information on appropriate deworming practices and products, please contact your regular veterinarian.

Internal and External parasites?!?! Dogs can get both internal and external parasites. Most people know about the external (fleas and ticks), but just as common are the internal parasites (such as roundworms, tapeworms, hookworms, and whipworms). Some of these parasites are zoonotic and can be transmitted to humans, so it's important to keep your pets dewormed regularly. If you have questions about deworming your beloved canine companion don’t hesitate to contact us! #ticktalk #yuckworms #becausewecare
