facebook.comThis was a very gratifying project i worked on a couple months ago; restoring a century old pedestal table to its original glory. Ageing had caused the table top to lighten and twist; we decided to construct a new table top out quartersawn white oak being sure to choose pieces with lots of beautiful rays and flecks in the grain similar to the original piece. We used the existing apron; as well as created 3 new leaves with aprons to match, and chose to stain the table to more closesly resemble its original colour. Also, due to the time when this piece was initially built, the table height was much lower than modern day furniture. We decided to add to the claw feet to raise the height, but not change the overall look of the table. I really enjoyed working on this piece and love how it turned out!
