Obituary (William J. Wheaton, Jr. 'Billy')

No one represented the face of the Parrsboro Golf Club more than Billy Wheaton Jr. It is with tremendous sadness we say goodbye to our dear friend. Billy was more than a greenskeeper. His laugh, jeers, constant smile, and love of the club and the game became as cherished as the well manicured greens and fairways. There are things that will be sorely missed and never replaced, from some of his infamous pin placements, to his timely, loud, drawled out "What are ya doin down there!?" after catching you looking for a sliced ball. And of course his uncanny ability to sense a ball being blown off a tee and his quick shout "One!". But what will last forever at the club is his memory. His name will always be on the trophies. He'll always be on the deck in the early mornings of the Open. He'll always be fearlessly mowing up number 8 waving for you to hit over him. He'll always be ready to chat as he sits on the mower waiting patiently for you to putt. So, with no practice swing, a simple waggle of the club head, a casual open stance, we say good bye with one last, easy swing. Brenda, Ryan, Pat and family, We are all here for you. http://smithsfuneralhome.com/17013.htm
