Great Sailing in a Friendly Cottage Atmosphere!

The Lac Deschenes Sailing Club was formed in 1966 to provide Ottawa dinghy and cat sailors a venue focused specifically on small boat sailing.

A low cost volunteer organization, the club has a low-key cottage like atmosphere. Arguably the best site for sailing on this section of the river, the Lac Deschenes Sailing Club features beach launching for dry sailed dinghies and cats.

Shirleys Bay provides excellent protection from the typically North West winds that come down the river, so setup and launching is convenient

It's hard to beat the weather forecast for tomorrow. Nancy has something special planned for the races, so if you haven't had a chance try out a race this year, tomorrow would be a great way to get your "feet wet", in a fun, low pressure sail. We'll see everyone in the morning at 9 for the skipper's meeting!

Let's build on the great numbers that we've had the past two race days. Never raced before? We'll have someone around to explain things for you. Need a crew? We have willing and able people available. Timing a bit tight after work? Let us know by tomorrow morning that you're coming and we'll have the sailing camp leave a Laser rigged for you. Running out of excuses? See you tomorrow! http://ldsc.ivolunteer.com/event_021

Really nice evening of racing last night. 18 boats were able to make it to the start line for two races. A few sailors came out to race for the first time in years, or in one case, the first time ever. By all accounts everyone had a great time. Next race is Sunday at 1:30pm. See you then!

Wind speed is in knots, temperature is in C. It's going to be a great night for a race! The first start is at 6:30, so allow yourself some time to get to the course, but the wind direction should allow you to get there quickly. If you missed signing up, not a problem, we'd be glad to have you. See you tonight!

There seems to be a lot of buzz about the upcoming races on Wednesday. I think people are tired of the rain. If you haven't had the chance to get out this year, it would be a great day to start. There'll be people available to help you get rigged and launched. If you're short a crew, there are capable hands looking for skippers. If you've never raced, we can help you with that, too. Even if you don't feel like sailing, come by and grill yourself some supper. Make sure to sign up at http://ldsc.ivolunteer.com/event_020, so we have an idea of who is planning on coming out.
