Description
Cumberland is a rural village with a long history dating back to 1799. The Cumberland Community Association manages this page. Cumberland has approximately 2,000 residents. Our community is comprised of a main street with many heritage homes in the historic Cumberland Village district, surrounded by farms and country lot subdivisions. The region boasts unique natural beauty, located along the Ottawa River, with rolling hills and mature forests. Attractions include the Cumberland Heritage Village Museum, a vibrant community-run farmers’ market operating from June to October, plus a community centre and rink.

Out of the hardship of dealing with too much snow comes the challenge of snow shoeing in 2 plus feet of the fluffy cold stuff on the beautiful Cumberland Trails. Well, they aren't groomed just yet but we made a nice loop for anyone keen to get out. Since winter looks like it will be over in about 4 weeks, don't delay! Enjoy :)

A big thank you to Julien Brazeau Snow Removal and Billy Humes for rescuing a Para Transpo bus that was stuck on Market street for six hours with two people in wheel chairs inside. They pulled the stranded bus out and then plowed the street and lead the bus back to Cumberland lodge. They were the heroes of the day and would accept no compensation.

Well a very few hardy people made it out for what was a beautiful but cold Family Fun Day at the Cumberland Museum. The Cumberland Community Association extends a big thank you to the Cumberland Lions for serving up wonderful hot chocolate and hot dogs and the Museum staff for helping out with the cookie decorating and mask making. Frozen out two years in a row, hopefully next year will be balmy! Happy Valentine's Day💖
