We are looking for more volunteers for The Paddle Project GALA 2017 happening this Saturday, May 27! Want free admittance and have a hand in creating the art party of the century? We are looking for auction runners, door people, and bartenders with Smart Serve (who will get to keep their tips for the night). All volunteers will have others spell them off, so you'll have time to enjoy the party too. Message Alex Mæve Campbell or email alexmaeve@sympatico.ca if interested!

Just another RANT along another long Art Hallway!
And...YES!!!...next Big Event (after Friday's fantastic Downtown Gallery Hop) is the Paddle Project Gala on Saturday, May 27th at 7pm. Lemme see now: Got the liquor license (check), got some amazing Food Art for people to mange down on (check, yummmm!), hung the paddles (check), finished the POSTER (cheeeee-wreck-check), belly dancers and jammers are rehearsing now (check), got the word out there that WE ARE HAVING A PAAAARRRRTY! Okay, the NRCC helped out with a Near North Mobile Media Lab and Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto "Found Footage Workshop" over the weekend. What a great initiative by LIFT! And what a great CREW of media artists who came out to Create new works!! Filmmaker Daniel McIntyre was so gracious, helpful and inspiring!!

We're trying to figure out a "Distant Paddlers" option for friends of the NRCC who are excited about Paddle Project 2017 and would like to purchase one of the artist-made paddles BUT who are unable to be here in North Bay for the GALA on May 27th! To address this sad dilemma!! We have decided to post images of all the paddles in the show IMMEDIATELY, number them, identify them by artist name and "name" them when appropriate. Your part, as a supporter of the NRCC who wants a paddle is to send us a list of your Top Five choices (only five please) to nrcc2014@gmail.com. Your second task is to donate $200 (or a little more if your REALLY like what NRCC is doing for the community) to: www.gofundme.com/nrccpaddleproject THEN, on the night of May 27, all paddle ticket holders' names will be put into a hat. When we draw your name, we'll CLAIM, for you, one of the paddles you have marked on your Top Five. If your Number One is still available (hasn't been chosen by another supporter) then it will be YOURS and ready for pickup at 176 Lakeshore Drive, Unit 14. The paddle will be labelled with your name. If the winds of fate are directing you to another Art Paddle (other than your Top Five), then when we pull your name and none of your Top Five paddles are remaining (all have been chosen by previous supporters with Paddle Tickets), Dermot will pick his personal favourite from the remaining paddles and claim it for you!!!!
Paddle Project 2017
