We have a few spaces left on these trips. Guided trip available over Christmas (Dec 23-29) and self guided over New Years (Dec 29-Jan 2).

With the amazing backcountry skiing conditions this winter I have opened up two new early season dates starting Dec 9th. Some customization and work trade deals might be possible. Of course we agree with Mr Robert Redford. Now ski touring is just one step beyond skiing at the lifts. We love going up and love pointing it and turning downhill. Big storm hitting the Kootenays right now. Could be first day of skiing coming up for many people.

We finished building the deck roof over the hot tub yesterday and hiked out over the top of Qua peak with waist deep trail breaking in sections after 30cm of new snow. We were hoping to find a trail left by Bigfoot or Sasquatch but no such luck.

After a long dry summer we flew into the lodge to start our Fall projects and the first precipitation in two months was 6 inches of powder. Got the firewood flown in, chopped up and stacked. Cedar walls for the sauna and a 20ft x 20ft deck outside the main entrance and hot tub.

Meteor explodes almost directly overhead of the Ymir lodge on Monday at 10pm, 36 km from Earth with blast energy equivalent of 130,000 kg of tnt. People at the lodge felt like it was a lightening strike within 100m of the lodge. A huge boom out in the middle of nowhere. Crazy universe. Love it.

I still have our New Years dates wide open for a private lodge reservation. The dates are Dec 30 - Jan 6th. My first priority would be to fill those dates but could be open to customising the dates for the right group. Last winter the group had the wisdom to move the clock forward 3 hours so 9pm was midnight and still get up on New Years for a full day of skiing!
