Small Farm.  Big Difference.  Premium quality meats from animals raised with exceptional care.
Local. Delectable. Ethical.  It's our Farmosphy. Carrick Hill Farms is a small farm in Bruce County committed to producing premium quality meats from animals who have been raised with exceptional care.  Our animals have access to the outdoors, the ability to express their natural behaviours and eat diets containing no hormones, antibiotics or GMO's.  We raise a limited amount of livestock each year allowing us to treat our animals with the dignity and respect they deserve.

We grow food for customers who share our Farmosophy  of eating local, delectable and ethical foods to improve our environment, our health, and our local economy.

Carrick Hill Farms  is based on the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model.  This means our customers make prepayments for orders and have input into what we grow on the farm.  It provides us the upfront capital we need to purchase livestock and feed and helps our cash flow so we can focus on farming and producing food to meet our high standards.

The CSA model is essential for our operation.  Our Farmosophy differs so much from large scale, industrialized agriculture that we do not qualify for conventional agriculture lending options with the banks.  But that's ok with us.   We would rather owe products to our customers than repayments to the bank anyways.

Please contact us for more information about our farming practices, our CSA program and future availability of turkey, chicken, pork and lamb.

We had such a great time at Sugar Berries cooking class! What a fantastic way for kids to learn culinary skills and ask questions about where their food comes from. The students learned how to cut up whole chickens and prepared several different dishes which everyone enjoyed at the end of class.

Well, it's not too late to order a turkey for Christmas dinner! I should also say that our whole chicken and various cuts of pork make great stocking stuffers as well!

Holiday Donations for Wyndham House! For the last 40 years Wyndham House has been synonymous with serving homeless youth. While the pathways into homelessness are complex, a way off the streets is clear. Wyndham House provides youth with housing and educational alternatives, social supports and programming that supports a successful transition into adulthood. Carrick Hill Farms has donated two large turkeys to this wonderful organization. If you would like to show your support for Wyndham House and (at the same time) support local small farming, we welcome any donation you may provide to cover the cost of additional donations of chicken, pork or turkey to this amazing organization. Thank you very much and have a very merry Christmas.

A Few Farm Lessons I'm Thankful For This Thanksgiving 1. Love your bridges and mind your fences 2. Don't lose sleep on a terribly wild, windy night (the turkey's have shelter, chicken tractors are tucked in and the pigs can access the barn) 3. Fight for some SLOW time. There's magic, awe, and the kind of wonder you felt as a kid in it. This last point is what I hope to impart to you. Our turkey will cook fast if you apply the same cooking standards you use on an average grocery bird. So I always say, "cook low and slow". Have a bottle or two of ale (Maclean's fits the order) and poetry to lift the spirit (Robert Service is a decent bet) while it's in the oven. Enjoy the journey of cooking up the summer sun and lush grasses that were distilled in our beautiful turkey that lived well and good. And be as proud as my family and I are, that you have prepared a meal with some honest toil, a lot of consideration and a whole lot of love! Happy Thanksgiving from Carrick Hill Farms!
