Happy International Women's Day! International Women's Day (March 8th) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. The Town of Marystown would like to wish a Happy International Women's Day to all women and girls everywhere, especially our Councillors, staff, volunteers and residents! You are strong and you have accomplished so much - you do make a difference!
USE REGULATED TAXIS Residents who need the services of a taxi are advised to engage properly licensed, properly insured legal taxis. Taxi companies and individual drivers require a permit from the Town to operate in Marystown, which are issued on an annual basis upon proof of insurance, registration and valid driver’s license. Vehicles used as taxis must also be inspected. If you choose to engage a taxi that doesn’t bear any of the identifying features of a legal taxi (roof-top taxi light, decals, permit on display, etc.), you could be putting yourself at risk. An illegal taxi can offer you a cheaper rate because there’s almost no overhead – no permit fees, no costly insurance for carrying fare-paying customers and no regulations to follow to ensure vehicles are safe. But that cheaper fare won’t protect you if that taxi is involved in an accident – you may find out too late that you are not adequately covered or are unable to make a claim after the fact. Choose safety – choose a regulated taxi!
