We hope that all of our Facebook followers have had a great winter! ❄️ Temperatures is still around -20 degrees Celsius, with occasionally snow, and spring seems far away here in Canada. The last couple of days and the next week the DanAgro semi will be busy hauling hay for a costumer 👨🏽‍🌾🌾🐮

The forecast is calling for winter ! ❄️🌨☃️ Last night the semi got washed and cleaned, so it is all ready, but the cutter had one last job this morning - to make some strips for fencing in grazing corn 🌽 Now the cutter just need a wash and everything can be packed away in storage until next season 👍🏼

Since the last update we have had two corn silage jobs in the Provost, Alberta area and we finished of last night right before the storm hit ! 💨 Today we moved the cutter and three tandems up north by Paradise Valley in a very nice corn crop, and the job will keep the team busy tomorrow as well 🌽 🚛

Tuesday we finished off the work we had down south by Sibbald. This costumers crop had also suffered from lack of rain and an early frost, and was therefore only about knee high. In the end they ended up with more tonnages and a bigger pit than they had expected, and the moisture in the crop seemed very good 🌽 Yesterday and today we have been silaging just west of Provost. This crop is good looking - tall and with a nice, full cob. On today's job Ribstone Crossing Custom Harvesting also provided the pit packer 🚜🌽

🌽🌽 Corn season have started 🌽🌽 Today we went for a bit of a drive down south, where we will be chopping corn the next couple of days 🌽 This crop was actually meant to be combined, but first they didn't get any rain and than it got hit by an early frost, so it is not that big of a crop. The crop is also a bit to the dry side for silage, so the costumer wished to add inoculant which we easily could provide ☀️

Yesterday and today the DanAgro cutter and trucks from Ribstone Crossing Custom Harvesting have been on a job east of Hardisty, Alberta cutting barley and sorghum. It is the first time we are cutting sorghum, but it seems to be an interesting plant. It is a 1 year plant, which is very sweet, and the contents of protein and starch is just as high or even higher, than corn. The starch is degraded slowly in the rumen, just like corn is, compared with grain. Sorghum is also very heat resistant, and apparently it should regrow and be ready for a second cut after only 30 days ! 🌾☀️
