facebook.comToday is Heritage Day in Nova Scotia! In honour of Heritage Day, we are sharing some more information about our flagship, Theresa E. Connor; celebrating 80 years this year! The schooner was launched from the Smith & Rhuland Shipyard in Lunenburg on December 14, 1938 and was originally owned by Maritime National Fish Company in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Captain Clarence Knickle was the first master of the schooner. 80 years later, visitors to the museum can board Theresa E. Connor and get a glimpse into what life was like fishing the North Atlantic Ocean. Here she is pictured at her berth in Summer 2016. Have you been on board? Comment below and hashtag #Theresa80! 2017 marked the 50th Anniversary for us here at the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic - but the fun doesn't stop there! In 1967, our flagship Theresa E. Connor was opened to the public and the Museum was officially in business! 2018 marks 80 years since the Theresa E. Connor was launched from the Smith and Rhuland Shipyard in Lunenburg; and in honour of TEC's 80th Anniversary, we will be sharing fun facts and information about our flagship.
