As you probably know, medical imaging is vital to the diagnosis and treatment of many diseases and disorders including cancer, cardiac disease and strokes. GRH’s current MRI is out-of-date and at-risk for failure. Proceeds from this tournament will assist with the purchase of a new MRI, a vital component to patient care through Waterloo Region. The Child Witness Centre is a local charity that provides support, education and advocacy for children and youth who are or may become victims or witnesses of abuse or crime and their families through the criminal justice process. In 2016, the Child Witness Centre led an initiative to establish a Child and Youth Advocacy Centre (CYAC) – a safe, welcoming, child and youth friendly place where allegations of abuse are investigated by specialized professionals and Advocates from the Child Witness Centre walk with these young people and their families through the process and connect them to services that can help them begin to heal. Tournament proceeds will ensure that more than 25 children, youth and their families have the support of an Advocate, helping to foster hope and empowering them towards strong futures. Select Your Charity After Registering We encourage all players, in addition to participating in the tournament, to raise funds for one of our charities: Grand River Hospital Foundation or Child Witness Centre.

A warm welcome to our newest hire: former World Champion Peter Corner. In case you missed it, last week we announced that Peter joins the club May 1 as our new curling manager. Corner, currently a Staff Sergeant with the Halton Regional Police, is retiring following a 30-year law enforcement career to join Westmount. As a skip, and as a lead, Corner led Ontario teams to five provincial championships. He first joined forces with cousin Wayne Middaugh and the Howard brothers (Glenn and Russ) in 1990; the team qualified for their first Brier the following year. In 1993, this "dream team" won both The Brier and the World Curling Championships. Corner replaces Terry Hayes, who will be retiring after 41 years of service to the club and to the community.
