The museum is housed in the elegant and beautifully restored Sir Harry Oakes Chateau, the home built in 1928 by the founder of the prosperous Lake Shore Mine. Explore our past, pioneers and prospectors, miners and millionaires, native legends, sports heroes, wildlife, and works of art. The Museum of Northern History has something for the whole family. There's a gift shop for souvenir hunters.

The Museum will be closed to the General Public on Saturday, March 31st for the KL 100th Anniversary Committee's Easter Egg Hunt for kids. We will reopen for regular hours on Tuesday, April 3rd at 12:00pm. Please contact the Museum should you have any questions. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

A member of the Contemporary Art Committee will be at the Museum on Friday from 1pm to 3pm to photograph entries for the 11th Juried Exhibition. The deadline for entries is coming up fast - Tuesday, March 13th. Contact the Museum with any questions!

Dan Nadeau, of the Contemporary Art Committee, will be on site at the Museum from 1:00pm to 3:00pm on Friday, March 9th to photograph entries for the 11th Annual Contemporary Art Juried Exhibition. For those who have awkward or difficult to photograph works, this photo session will help ease your worries. The cost is $5.00 per entry. Please contact the Museum should you have any questions.
