WE STRONGLY BELIEVE . . .
In maintaining our old school roots while staying current to the interest in more aggressive backcountry skiing and ski touring. For the purist at heart, we offer a down-to-earth, no frills, backcountry skiing experience.
We are caretakers of a long-standing tradition at Boulder Creek in the Purcells. We have instilled in our kids, Grace and Alden, the ethics of stewardship, a passion for places wild, and a love of adventure. We are a family that embraces the same desire – to share this incredible backcountry experience with others.
With friends and the extended family of backcountry enthusiasts, we are painstakingly re-crafting the Boulder Hut to preserve its historic role in British Columbia’s rich history of backcountry lodges. We keep the tradition of mountain huts by choice.
Boulder Hut is a living, growing piece of the ski community in the Purcell Mountains of Southeast British Columbia. Here, we make our home every winter and welcome our backcountry skiing guests as family.
THE BOULDER HUT
The historic Boulder Hut holds a unique place in the history of backcountry ski lodges in British Columbia.
Our founders Art Twomey and Margie Jamieson’s conservation efforts are legendary. They were instrumental in establishing the Purcell Wilderness Conservancy, nearly 500,000 acres of protected land bordering our 15,000 acre ski tenure.
This hut is one of the original privately held ski lodges in the province and we are proud of the fact that we were recently named one of the Top 10 Backcountry Huts in North America by Unofficial Networks, a partner of USATODAY Lifestyle/Action Sports.
Our ski terrain is suited to all abilities and wide ranging weather conditions. Canada's Purcell Mountains offer legendary powder skiing and the best tree skiing in BC. When weather won’t let us see our ski tips in the high alpine, we head for the trees. When weather breaks, we head to alpine bowls and cirques to deliver a big mountain backcountry ski touring experience.
Whatever the weather brings, we have plenty of challenging terrain to keep you skiing and a comfortable and relaxing backcountry ski lodge to come home to at the end of your day.
