Way to go Canadian Free Spirits! The over 45 Canadian Ladies competitive softball team took gold at the World Masters Game last week in Auckland New Zealand. The Hastings Field House had the privilege of hosting practice times throughout the winter and could not be prouder of their achievements. Congratulations ladies and Coaching Staff !!

Twas The Week After Christmas Twas the week after Christmas, and I certainly felt That it was quite a struggle, to do up my belt; The snacks and the treats had all been consumed, I knew for certain that my waistline was doomed; As I washed and flossed and headed for bed, Visions of the scales entered my head; I awoke from my dream in a terrible sweat, The thought of a diet gave me reason to fret; The sitting, visiting, imbibing and tastings, Were over for this year, in the village of Hastings; And then in a twinkling, I knew just what to do, The vision of Hastings Field House, came into my view; I’m certainly no athlete, nor physically fit, But I knew in a moment, I could no longer just sit; Walking indoors, where it is safe, warm and dry, Was something I needed, and really must try; When the sun rose that morning, over the Trent, I put on my gear, and to the Field House I went; When what to my wondering eyes did appear, Folks of all ages, their determination was clear; I saw Pickleball and Tennis, Basketball and Soccer, Fitness classes, Golf, and many a walker; All this activity, enough has been said, Let’s all get moving, there is nothing to dread; I hope to see others with health goals in sight; Happy New Year to all, and to all a good night! -Anonymous
