This poor guitar is in dire need of a refret. Someone at some point decided to glue a fret on... sideways no less... and not in the proper location. Needless to say, work has begun and all frets were removed and the fingerboard sanded and cleaned up. New frets have been cut and I'm about half way through pressing them. Next up, gluing the bridge as it's started separating from the top. This is a great family heirloom that when done will once again sing out like it once had before.

Currently I have a couple of instruments undergoing restoration. One of my favorites right now is this 1977 Gibson LG1. It had a plastic bridge that had pulled away from the top and as a result, the top needed some repairs to return it to it's proper radius. Created a new Rosewood bridge for it, looks a tonne better. Restored the fretboard that was a little dry, and did a fret dress as most frets were worn flat. After buffing the frets the whole fingerboard looks like a beaut. Next I need to route the saddle, carve the saddle, and then intonation and setup. Can't wait to get strings on it as it has a fantastic resonance just with a tap on the body. Side note: I never remember how bad hide glue smells until it's too late...

A big thank you to Minto Chamber of Commerce for the recognition of my business, Stay Tuned Guitar Repair. Special thanks to LaunchIt Minto for their help and support – without their resources I wouldn’t have gotten this far. And to Harold DeVries of the Business Centre Guelph Wellington, whose mentorship was key to me getting anything done at all. Apologies for not being able to make it and accept on my own behalf, but I hear I was fabulously represented.
