Samudra Kadampa Buddhist Centre is a member of the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKT-IKBU). Meditation classes are open for anyone to attend and are designed to accommodate every level of meditation experience. The main focus is to help you develop a daily meditation practice so that you can achieve inner peace. Samudra Centre offers two distinct meditation class programs. The General Program (GP) introduces basic and advanced meditation practice. The usual format consists of a teaching on various spiritual subjects, followed by questions and answers, refreshments, and a guided meditation.  The teaching functions to present Buddhist wisdom in a practical way, applicable to real life situations, that everyone can implement and benefit from. In this way, our meditation practice is supported by new ways of thinking and behaving in daily life. Various courses and subjects are offered throughout the year. No registration is required and you are free to join the program at anytime. Classes usually run from 7-9 pm. There is a fee of $10 per class in order to cover costs.

Foundation Program (FP) provides an opportunity for formal, structured study. The focus is on gaining advanced meditation experience and integrating Buddhist philosophy into day to day situations. Registration and abiding by certain commitments are required. For more information see the Foundation Program web page. Attending the General Program is recommended as a preparation for joining this program.

Buddhist meditation practice has a centuries old history of effectively reducing and eliminating stress, fear, anger, anxiety and depression. If we think deeply, we shall realize that gaining lasting inner peace is the most valuable quality that we could ever develop.

It is often so painful to admit that we have faults that we make all manner of excuses rather than alter our exalted view of ourself. One of the most common ways of not facing up to our faults is to blame others. An exaggerated sense or our own importance thus leads to a critical attitude towards other people and makes it almost impossible to avoid conflict.~ Transform Your Life

Learn How to respond to Harm- Avoiding Blame & Victimization. Drop-in meditation class on Tuesday Sep 27 7-9pm with Gen Kelsang Rabgye. Everyone Welcome. When we experience harm it is very difficult to accept our experience. As a result we suffer, sometimes for a short period of time, but sometimes for very long periods of time. Buddha taught that this is completely unnecessary, and offered many methods and ways of thinking that bring acceptance and inner peace. Therefore, we should definitely learn these methods.

As Bodhisattva Shantideva says: By depending upon this boat-like human form, We can cross the great ocean of suffering. Since such a vessel will be hard to find again, This is no time to sleep, you fool! Practising in this way is the very essence of the Kadampa way of life~ Geshe Kelsang Gyatso- Transform your Life
