Friday, April 13th, join us at the Caruso Club for an evening of song, dance, sweet treats and fun in memory of Cristina Roque and in support of the Cristina Care Fund - NCF! All funds raised from the Coffee House support helping local patients in financial need with the costs of travelling south for stem cell treatments and appointments

Over the last few months, Alessia has been selling custom cups to raise money for the NECC's Chemotherapy Department. She came in yesterday with $400 raised! She also mentioned that she's got a med school interview with Northern Ontario School of Medicine—École de médecine du Nord de l'Ontario and we wish her the best of luck!

The Northern Cancer Foundation (NCF) and the organizing committee are preparing to host the 2018 Rally for Dad on Saturday, June 16th. In 2017, the event was successful raising $26,000 for prostate cancer….an incredible feat which is a direct result of your participation! Our goal this year is to raise $30,000! Will you help us reach our goal? ALL funds raised will fund NEW equipment for the treatment of prostate cancer at the Northeast Cancer Centre in Sudbury. ROUTE - Riders will leave from the Northeast Cancer Centre and enjoy a highway scenic rally route that will end at the A&W (1099 Marcus Drive, Sudbury). A&W will provide food, refreshments and live entertainment! The registration fee is $35/each per rider and passenger (if applicable). This includes: A&W breakfast and lunch, a rocker panel, great prizes, and a donation to the Northeast Cancer Centre. (You will also receive a $20 tax receipt.) If your passenger(s) only want to participate for lunch – you can purchase a meal coupon for $10 at the Registration desk. * For participants and passengers if you raise over $100 in pledges we will waive your $35 registration fee! POKER RUN – You will be given a card at the start, every pit stop and the finish line towards your poker hand. If you don’t like your hand at the finish, you can buy some new cards for your chance at some great prizes. Since 2001, the Rally for Dad has raised over $400,000 for local prostate cancer research, including $26,000 in 2017!

Christina from Building Services at Health Sciences North / Horizon Santé-Nord cut her hair and raised $327 for our Breanna Baxter Fund to support pediatric cancer patients and their families! Thanks to everyone who donated and big thanks for Christina for thinking of us - your hair looks great! :D

HUGE congratulations to Collin Cameron for his Bronze in the 7.5km sitting biathlon at the 2018 Paralympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea! Collin took part in our Cross Out Cancer Ski Loppet last month, posting a blistering 17 minutes and 35 seconds on the 5km course! You're a great inspiration to our city and our country, Collin - congratulations!

Today I found myself reflecting on the women who make this Foundation what it is - not just our staff, but the volunteers, our advocates, the board members, my colleagues at Health Sciences North / Horizon Santé-Nord, our donors, NECC patients... the list goes on and on and on. I'm thankful to have had these women to guide me and I'm sure that my thoughts are echoed by the men who raise funds, volunteer, sit on our board of directors and work with us when I say that we're so lucky to have powerful, tenacious and unstoppable women surrounding us.
