Today we played... The Thing: Infection at Outpost 31! Based on the John Carpenter cult classic Sci-fi horror. (Usually we post a picture, but we couldn't resist posting this video with Elijah Wood instead. Watch it, you won't regret it.) Wow, this game is awesome. It is a co-operative game with a secret betrayer (or two) who have been infected by THE THING! It is for 4-8 players and takes 60-90 minutes to play. This thematic game plays a bit like seasoned favourites Dead of Winter and Battlestar Galactica, but we think The Thing was easier to learn. Today we played... SUPERFIGHT! Who would win?: one buttery devil OR three big smoke monsters? Leave a comment to help us decide. How to play this party game: pick cards from your hand, plus a random, to create a fighter, then debate and argue about who would win in a battle. The rest of the table decides on the winner. The champion faces off with the next opponent at the table, using the same champion fighter, until it is defeated. This game is funny and easy to learn. We have it in our library for people to try and also copies available to purchase.

Brrr... feels mighty cold outside today, especially the windchill. A cup of homemade rustic spicy Italian sausage and tortellini soup should do the trick. :)

Today we played... COMPACT CURLING! Aiming and sliding your "stones" into the house is harder than it looks in this dexterity game. We played 2 player but think it would also be a lot of fun with a 4-8 person group split into proper teams. Like all our featured games, this is available to try in the cafe library.
