Canada Summer Student Job Ad (1) GPFC Outreach Program Assistant The candidate must meet the following requirements: • Between the ages of 17 – 30 as of date of Employment. • Was registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year. • Intends to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year. • Is a student in a secondary, post-secondary, vocational, or technical program • Is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under immigration and Refugee Protection Act • Is legally entitled to work per the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations • Preference for a student of Indigenous Descendent. • Occupational Health and Safety Standard will be adhered too. The Selected Candidate will work under the Direction of the Program Coordinator as well as the Executive Director of the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre. The preferred fields of Study for this position of Outreach Program Assistant are Business Administration, Tourism, Indigenous Studies &/or Fine Arts. The duties the selected candidate will be responsible for but are not limited to: • Assisting the Program Coordinator with the planning, designing, organizing and building all GPFC summer community events such as National Indigenous People’s Day, Canada Day, Heritage Day and Family Picnic This is a term position of 8 weeks beginning June 14 for 30 hours per week at a rate of $17.00 an hour. This position is ideal for High School Students wishing to enter the Human Services career path to gain firsthand experience working with our clients. In addition, this position is ideal for students wishing to gain skills working in a commercial kitchen. The duties the selected candidate will be responsible for but are not limited to: • Student will assist our Outreach workers with the daily tasks of engaging with the community’s street engaged members by providing referrals, hygiene supplies, clothing and emotional support. • Three days a week student will assist in the preparation of nutritional meals for the community. • Day to day cleaning and maintenance of the outreach center. • The Selected Candidate will work under the Direction of the Program Coordinator as well as the Executive Director of the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre. This is a term position of 8 weeks beginning July 3rd for 33 hours per week at a rate of $15.00 an hour. Application deadline is May 29, 2018 at 4:00 pm.
