As the fire chief of Glace Bay, I can’t express how proud I am of my firefighters. Taking time away from their own families to start everyone’s holiday season with taking a week to get ready for the annual Christmas Parade on December 1st. Then another day to deliver nearly 750 treats with Santa to the elementary schools in our community. Then again to spend three more evenings travelling the streets with Santa to add a little more holiday cheer to our community. As we went tonight knowing this was the last possible night to finish a large section of the town, the wind, snow and bone chilling temperatures didn’t damper our spirits to put smiles on the faces of all that came out to see us. As we thaw out here at the station , my members and I want to wish you and your families the safest of holiday seasons and all the best for 2018. Santa just yelled to me as he was making his way to the fire station roof to begin his journey home, “ Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night”.
