Good morning Winter Citizens, yes it is starting to feel like spring but we know better. The contracted loaders are continuing to work in the northeast quadrant and we have graders and a blower working in the southeast quadrant. Please remember to park off the street so we can remove the snow as efficiently as possible. WE'RE MELTING! With warm weather, comes melting snow; and boy do we have A LOT of snow! We want to take a moment to remind everyone of a few things to ensure we limit the risk of flooding: 1. Check out this AWESOME brochure on protecting your home from flooding. 2. Check your backwater value for any debris and ensure it is working correctly. 3. Ensure your downspouts are pointed away from your house 4. Move any snow piled near your house foundation 5. If there is a storm drain in on the road in front of your house, try to remove the snow and ice so the water can drain 6. Report any flooding by calling 311, using the Report a Problem Form on our website or using the Fort St. John City app.
#FBF Take a look at one of our snow plows back from a few years back! We completed the haul off and and now working on the east side of the city. We have contract loaders in the area between the new and old Fire Halls before moving to the northeast quadrant. Additionally, we have graders and blowers working in the southeast quadrant on residential roads and a sand truck out sanding trouble spots and priority 1 roads. Please remember to park off the street so we can efficiently move the snow before it melts and makes a HUGE mess. As always, you can report any problems using the Fort St. John City app on Apple or Android devices or by calling 311.
With the forecast looking like it is going to warm up, we suggest visiting the ice slides at Centennial Park one last time. While we plan on keeping them usable for as long as possible, we also value your safety and will have to remove them if they become dangerous.
