Tooth decay rates spike in Windsor

Community water fluoridation is the single most effective public health measure for preventing tooth decay. Ontario Dental Association states that, "Community water fluoridation can reduce tooth decay in children’s primary teeth by up to 60 percent, and in their permanent teeth by up to 35 percent." Fluoride treatment is an important part of routine dental care. Up next on #MeetTheTeamTuesday, we have the wonderful dentist - Dr. Moukled! Dr. Aziz Moukled is a Windsor native and graduated with a Bachelor of Biological Sciences Degree Summa Cum Laude and a certificate in French Language Studies from the University of Detroit Mercy. Dr. Moukled completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Detroit Mercy, School of Dentistry. He is licensed both in Canada and the United States and has practices in various urban and rural areas in southwestern Ontario, as well as Michigan. When not in the office, Dr. Moukled is completing advanced continuing education courses in various areas of dentistry providing his patients with the most current and innovative advancements in dental treatment. He hopes to one day combine his love for traveling and helping others by completing mission trips to deliver free dental health care to the under-served populations of the world. He is fluent in English, French, Arabic and limited Spanish. We are excited to have such a compassionate dentist serving the wonderful residents of Windsor and Essex County! Aziz B. Up next on #MeetTheTeamTuesday is the wonderful Dental Hygienist, Rainy Gillis! Rainy Gillis was born and raised locally in the town of Tecumseh, Ontario. Rainy graduated from the Dental Hygiene program at St. Clair College at the top of her class – we only have the best of the best at Essex Family Dental! She is also the recipient of the Windsor-Essex County Merit Award for being an active member of our community. Rainy believes in preventative therapy in daily dental care and strives to be optimistic and comforting for even her most nervous patients. This is what makes Rainy a great hygienist - she is always looking to be proactive with taking care of her patient’s oral health. In Rainy’s spare time, she enjoys leading a healthy and holistic lifestyle, as well as spending time with her amazing family and friends. Aziz B. We have been so busy today taking care of all our wonderful patients, but we did not forget that it is #MeetTheTeamTuesday. Up next is our Fantastic Dental Assistant, Sue Mailloux! Sue was born and raised in LaSalle, however has resided in Essex for the last 10 years. When Sue first joined the team in December, she fit right in with not only our staff, but the patients because she practically knew all of them. Sue graduated from St. Clair College as a Dental Assistant Level I and continued her education at the University of Western Ontario in 2000 as a Dental Assistant Level II. Sue has over 20 years of experience in the dental field of pediatrics. In other words, she is a seasoned veteran at making any child’s dental experience a great one. This applies to big kids too! Sue can be found preparing patient rooms, working side-by-side with Dr. Moukled, and making every patient’s experience wonderful. In Sue’s spare time, she can be spotted rooting for her wonderful son, Evan, as he plays for the local Essex Ravens team. In edition to being a “hockey mom”, Sue loves walking, bike riding, baking, and making delicious food!
