P&P Committee: Monthly meeting of committee of the whole for Council is underway. The Olds & District Hospice Society providing a presentation to the committee to start the agenda today.
If you live in the rural Carstairs area join the South Carstairs Economic Growth Node Area Structure Plan Steering Committee for an Open House tonight from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Carstairs & District Community Hall. Learn all about the proposed Area Structure Plan that will help guide development in this area going forward. The formal presentation is at 6:30 pm and one-on-one discussions with committee members and County staff are available.
Snow expected to continue for much of the day over most of Mountain View County. Low visibility, blowing snow and snow covered roadways out there, so leave plenty of time to get to your destination, and please drive safely if you must travel. County crews will be on main hard-surface routes first, followed by local roads as snowfall lightens. Have a safe weekend!
Fire Permits: Remember starting tomorrow (March 1st) that fire permits are required for any large scale burning within Mountain View County. Visit the below link to obtain your county permit! http://www.mountainviewcounty.com/council-boards-services/fire-permits-regulations Once you've filled out your permit application a thank you screen will pop up (see enclosed photo) with your permit number similar to the one in the example. Use that number when you call fire dispatch at 1-877-507-7011 to report your burn. If you live in the Provincial Forest Protection Area (see enclosed map) you need to obtain your permit from the province by calling 310-0000 for more information.
COUNCIL: authorizes the CAO to enter into a 3 year contract, to December 31, 2020, with the Province (Municipal Affairs, Assessment Services Branch) to provide Assessment Services of Designated Industrial Properties (DIP) for the Provincial Assessor.
COUNCIL: approves funding in the amount of $457,967 for the 2018 FCSS Grant Applications as recommended by the Community Services Grant Committee.
COUNCIL: approves the use of electronic signatures as an alternative means of authorization in accordance with section 213 (5) of the Municipal Government Act.
COUNCIL: The changes regarding the composition of the SDAB were in response to updates to the Municipal Government Act approved by the Provincial Government.
COUNCIL: Approves an amendment to Bylaw 20/17 to establish the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board.
COUNCIL: Regular meeting underway with two land use public hearings; one in the James River rural neighbourhood and the other in the Bergen rural neighbourhood. Reserves Policy discussion added to the agenda as item 10.8.
