Over the past couple weeks, we have done 3 Aluminum wire upgrades for customers that have had their insurance company’s ask for it in order to maintain coverage. With the use of proper marretttes and anti-oxidizing paste, we add on copper pig tails to the aluminum wire that now connect to all the devices throughout the house. This meets insurance company’s requirements as well as Canadian electrical code. Aluminum wire is very soft and can oxidize if tight connections aren’t made. When a connection becomes loose, that’s when it becomes a potential issue. If you or someone you know has a home built between 1973 and 1978, or even a basement wired during those time frames, chances are aluminum wire was used. Contact us to find out how we can upgrade your wiring.
