S&B Enterprises is a family owned business specializing in the Planning, Installation, Maintenance and Inspection of Onsite Septic Systems (Wastewater) We are a family business located in central British Columbia and have operated within B.C. for the past 21 years. We are fully certified by ASTTBC in all areas of competence within our industry and members of BCOSSA. ASTTBC (Applied Science Technologist & Technicians of British Columbia) is the governing body that provides registration and regulates the ethical operation of ROWP’s, while BCOSSA (BC OnSite Sewage Association) is responsible for administering educational programs and supplying the ROWP with support information and interpretation of the SPM. An ROWP (Registered Onsite Wastewater Practioner) is a registered Practioner and an authorized person that operates under the guidelines of the SPM (Standard Practice Manual) and the regulations of the SSR (Sewage System Regulation).

An ROWP may be certified in four areas of competence: Planner, Installer, Maintenance Provider and Private               Inspector.

The Planner is responsible for site and soil investigation, determination of system use and Daily Design Flow and for the design of the system.

The Installer is responsible for the installation of the system and for ensuring that the installation meets Standard Practice.

The maintenance provider assists the homeowner by managing and overseeing the condition and performance of the entire system. System operation and maintenance is the responsibility of the homeowner.

A Private Inspector inspects and assess systems and can be called upon to accurately locate an existing system, check its condition, test its performance and make recommendations to improve your system.

The Standard Practice Manual was created in support of the Sewage System Regulation to establish the regulatory requirements for Registered Practitioners or Authorised Persons. Standard Practice is defined as:

“A method of constructing and maintaining a sewerage system that will ensure
that the sewerage system does not cause, or contribute to, a health hazard.”

We at S&B Enterprises practice due diligence in all our commitments to entrench public health principles as crucial components in all Installation and O&M work we undertake with respect to onsite sewage disposal. Your role as the owner is to ensure the routine maintenance of you wastewater disposal system and to know the limitations of your system to ensure effective operation.
