Biggar Majestic Theatre
Description
Community owned, volunteer run. Promoting all events that are happening in our great little theatre and having some fun doing it. To Book 306-951-8244. New York is Big, But This is Biggar!
This is a slogan that is uniquely connected to our community, just as the Majestic Theater is uniquely connected to Biggar, Saskatchewan. Arts, culture and entertainment energy is captured dynamically in this facility and has been practically since the birth of the community. Originally constructed in 1911, this facility has helped entertain our prairie community through good times and bad for over a century. The joy, excitement, anxiety of performers on stage, audiences, young and old alike has created a memorable experience in the Majestic Theater. The current Board of Directors are passionate, committed and determined to continue the long tradition of this facility as a prominent part of the social fabric of our small prairie town.
The Majestic Theatre, located at the corner of 4th Avenue and Main Street has been a landmark in the town since it was first built and started operating in 1911. The original building was enlarged substantially in 1916 and was again enlarged and renovated to its present size and appearance in 1929.
It was closed in 1986 and sat unused until 1991 when a non-profit corporation, The Biggar and District Theatre Project, was formed to purchase and renovate the building. A two level addition at the rear of the theatre was built to provide space for meeting rooms and a kitchen was also added. The new theatre opened in 1995 and is used for a variety of community events such as movies, live theatre performances, Arts Council presentations, music and carol festivals, dance recitals and competitions and school programs.

Coming soon. Bob Cates is a Canadian Juggling Champion, clean comedian and physical variety artist that has been delighting audiences for 26 years. He keeps the crowd laughing with fast paced comedy routines involving advanced juggling, wild unicycling and balancing skills, illusion, black light, laser manipulation, cigar box manipulation and an insane 24 real plate spinning finale that has to be seen to be believed. He is one of few entertainers left in North America performing authentic plate spinning – his signature piece. Bob was awarded Entertainer of the Year at the 2016 Canadian Event Industry Awards. He has been nominated for “Best Variety Act” at the 2014 & 2015 Canadian Comedy Awards. He was also twice nominated “Best One Man Show” at the Canadian Comedy Awards and Entertainer of the Year 4 previous times at the Canadian Event Industry Awards before winning in 2016.
