The Town of Amherst Water Utility will be starting the annual hydrant flushing program on May 15, and continue for the next four weeks, from 8 am until 8 pm Monday to Friday. This work could create silt and turbidity in the water. Customers should check the clarity of their water prior to washing clothes or drawing drinking water. Should you find your water is dirty please turn on the cold water tap in your kitchen sink, let it run and contact the public works garage at 667-3334. The Amherst Water Utility reminds its customers that this is a necessary annual program and apologizes for any inconvenience the work may cause. The department will also be swabbing the main transmission main on May 11th, 2017. Should you have any questions or concerns please call (902) 667-3334.
