This weekend there is the "Belgian jazz Meeting in Brussels". It's is a biannual showcase happening and professional networking event. The aim is to give an international platform to jazz artists from Belgium and to promote the Belgian jazz scene to foreign promoters, jazz programmers, agents etc... Unfortunately it's on invitation only. But it's a very nice event that puts our young Belgian jazz talent at the forefront. Big Congrats to all organizers involved.

Fred nodigt bovendien de jonge pianist Seppe Gebruers uit om de avond te openen met saxofonist Joachim Badenhorst. On ne pouvait rêver mieux que Fred Van Hove, l’éminence grise du free jazz belge, pour le baptême jazz du nouvel orgue de la Grande Salle Henry Le Bœuf. In 2017 Aka Moon is celebrating their 25th anniversary with a concert tour and a new album. For this they are going back to basics, to the roots of the core trio. Expect an eclectic mix of jazz, rock and world music, but above all a trip through the inspiring world of Aka Moon themselves.

Ce trio clarinette/guitare/contrebasse féru d’aventure a en effet coutume de partager la scène avec des musiciens issus de différents univers, allant de l’orchestre symphonique au joueur de mandoline israélien Avi Avital. Het David Orlowsky Trio gaat geen enkele uitdaging uit de weg en waagt zich zelfs aan de combinatie van orgel en klezmer, de specialiteit van dit avontuurlijke trio dat bestaat uit klarinet, gitaar en contrabas. Het trio treedt vaak samen op met muzikanten uit heel andere genres, van een symfonisch orkest tot de Israëlische mandolinespeler Avi Avital. The David Orlowsky Trio is definitely not afraid of a challenge, particularly when it comes to combining the organ and klezmer music, its main priority! This clarinet/guitar/double bass trio of adventure seekers is quite used to performing together with musicians hailing from different backgrounds, covering a wide spectrum, from the symphony orchestra to the Israeli mandolinist Avi Avital. The concert is a part of our In-ORG-uration Series in september 2017.

The great Jazz In Marciac Festival released a sneak preview of the rehearsal of Wynton Marsalis with special guest Cecile McLorin Salvant. Two artists we've invited for next season!! The concert in Marciac is on the 11th of august.

MARIUS NESET won the Kongsberg Jazzfestival Award last week for the album Snowmelt with the London Sinfonietta. At Bozar he and his touring band will present the project with our own Belgian National Orchestra.
