IVF and Acupuncture. Traditional Chinese Medicine has been used for many centuries to assist in fertility. Now the research is beginning to catch up on how this actually work. The research and clinical trials are becoming so convincing that many IVF clinics now include Acupuncture/TCM in their recommendations whilst undergoing treatment. WCHG's Dr Lauren Zhang (Traditional Chinese Medicine/Acupuncturist) has provided some additional information on how Acupuncture may assist in increased chances of conception (information taken from Acupuncture and IVF Increase IVF Success By 40-60%, author is Lifang Liang, O.M.D., PHD,L.AC. published by Blue Poppy Press, 2003) Acupuncture is an effective approach in improving IVF outcomes. In clinical observation, the ultrasound shows that, after acupuncture, the colour of women’s ovaries change from cloudy to bright and clear. The follicles usually double in the number, the lining of the uterus becomes thicker, and the number of embryos increases significantly. Patients experience less side effects from the drugs and feel more at ease and 'happy'. In brief, Acupuncture and Chinese medicine can help to improve the success rate of IVF in a number of ways: 1. Improve the function of the ovaries to produce better quality eggs. 2. Regulate the hormones to produce a larger number of follicles. 3. Increase blood flow to the uterus and increase the thickness of the uterus lining. 4. Relax the patient and decrease their stress. 5. Prevent the uterus from contracting. 6. Lessen the side effects of drugs used in IVF. 7. Strengthen the immune system. 8. Improve semen to create better quality and quantity of embryos. 9. Decrease chances of miscarriage. It is recommended that patients receive acupuncture treatments approximately three months prior to the IVF procedure to regulate the body’s functions and increases the chances of IVF being more successful. .

Meal prep: an effective way to maintain convenient, healthy eating habits! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gzz6YVGirvg Why your Chiropractors Dr. Max and Dr. Danie have sweet potato and asparagus for lunch: Sweet potato - Fantastic source of beta-carotene: which is a precursor to Vitamin A. Vitamin A is essential for healthy skin, immune system, bone health and good quality vision. - Beta carotene uptake is enhanced by the presence of fat (ideally un-saturated) such as olive oil, they will make a good combination! - Sweet potato is a lower GI (slower, more gradual release of energy) if boiled, so try to when possible. The slower release of carbs will give you energy for longer. Asparagus - low in calories and low in sodium. It is a great vegetable for the digestive system due to its fibre content. - For taste and texture, it is best to cook the lower portions longer than the spears because it is thicker. - The health benefits include antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. ** We want as many colours in a meal as possible, this indicates a variety of nutrition that it will provide. ** If you’ve got the time, boiling the sweet potato and steaming the asparagus will help preserve nutrients that are lost during baking. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gzz6YVGirvg

Did you know your head is about the size and weight of a bowling ball! That is heavy! When our head is in the right position over our shoulders (with our ears lining up with our shoulder) the weight of that bowling ball is spread evenly and we have a significantly lower risk of experiencing neck and shoulder pain. With so much of our days spent with poor posture and looking down at our phones, Ipads and computers our team of Chiropractors are seeing more and more of this forward movement of people heads on their shoulders (also called Anterior Head Carriage). Thankfully there is actually a lot you can do to help reverse this or prevent it occurring in the first place, call us on 9397 7075 to speak with one of our chiropractors about how we could possible help in your case. http://www.wchg.com.au/chiropractors/
