With horse racing season nearing its pinnacle tomorrow at Flemington's Melbourne Cup, we have our 7-10 finalists getting ready for the Victorian Metro champs. 2 weeks ago we had 12 swimmers competing at the Metro South 7-10 Selection Trials where almost everyone posted new PB's. Well done to: Annabelle Bamford, Hannah Pettenon, Alexander Stone, Jemma Potts, Olivia Hope, Matilda Hayman, Lachlan Gance, Charlotte Bond, Sophie Leishman, George Raines and the youngest one Lily Raines. Some of them only racing officially for the first time. On Sunday 05/11 we have 6 swimmers who managed to rank in the top ten for their age and will represent our Metro competing against swimmers from other metro districts. We wish all the best to: Lily Raines, Olivia Hope, Lachlan Gance, Nathan Cui, Jemma Potts & Annabelle Bamford. Below is the meet program #GoLoreto

Yoav Valinsky - what a performance, shaved 2.5 seconds off his 200 IM to qualify 6th into the final. Yoav will be racing again in 3 hours and we all wish good luck, go Yoav go! Yoav trained with last year and we are all extremely happy to see him being able to be at his peak performance when it counts! #GoYoavValinsky #GoLoreto
Over this past weekend almost 900 swimmers from almost 95 clubs gathered at MSAC for the Victorian Age Short Course Championships. Loreto Aquatic sent 17 swimmers who had qualified over hard time qualifying standards to compete at these Championships in over 83 events, which ranged in distance from 50m to 800m across all strokes. The meet was a spectacular success for our Club, with greater than 85% of swimmers producing personal best times. This is an outcome which far exceeds benchmarks of accepted excellence for such a meet. In 21 of the events our athletes placed top 10 in Victoria and in 3 events our swimmers and LA won medals. All of these fabulous efforts contributed to Loreto Aquatic finishing 11th in the female category. This is a significant achievement. This result again records our Club's significant rise in competitive success and ranking in Victoria as we markedly build and provide opportunity for all our young swimmers. Some of the many highlights were: Elodie Latour won a bronze medal in the 50m freestyle. She also swam most impressively in the finals of both the 100m and 200 metre freestyle. Dominique Hart competed in three finals - the 800m freestyle and placed 3rd for her age, the 400m freestyle again she placed 3rd for her age and the 200m freestyle where she won a bronze medal. Romy Walker competed in 6 finals - the 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m freestyle and the 100m breastroke. Romy also claimed a very impressive bronze medal in the 200m freestyle. This continued her outstanding results this year as the Club's most credentialed individual swimmer at Age Nationals last April. Piper Duane qualified for 3 finals - the 100 breaststroke (6th), the 200m (10th) freestyle and the 200m (5th) breastroke. Madeleine Hooker qualified for two finals - the 50 freestyle (10th) and the 200m (7th) freestyle. Grace Hyslop qualified for the 200m backstroke final and improve her ranking to 6th in Victoria. Alexandra Rapkins qualified for two finals - the 800m (7th for her age) and 200m freestyle (7th) finals. Emily Waring qualified for two finals - the 100m (9th) and 200m (7th) freestyle finals. All these swimmers swam major PBs in either their heats or their finals or both. The following swimmers also swam major PBs in all or the great majority of their heats and in doing so, improved their Victorian rankings very well, and sometimes well into the Top 20 for Victoria. Well done to both Stefan Skalartos and Harry McLean who competed for the first time in the State Age short course competition. Alexandra Desmond, Enzo Iezzi, Elizabeth Jenkins, Liam Kelliher, Angus McLean, Georgia Moloney and Tom Perry all represented Loreto Aquatic in fine style and each swimmer contributed magnificently to the overall club effort. Our swimmers showed determination, grit and resilience and we are very proud of their efforts. We congratulate all our swimmers, coaches and parents. Stay tuned for more results over the coming weeks as we continue the impressive rise of Loreto Aquatic as a competitive swimming club.

Piper Duane selected for Swimming Victoria's Performance Program !!! For the first time in the history of Loreto Aquatic one of our swimmers has been selected to be part of Swimming Victoria's Performance Program. Piper Duane has been chosen following her impressive performance in the 200m breaststroke at the Australian Age Championships in Adelaide. Piper will take part in a swim camp at the end of June, along with some of the best junior swimmers in the state, who are considered to be the future of swimming in Victoria. Swimming Victoria is running various camps for different categories, such as Distance, Junior and the State team. Two year ago in September 2014, Elodie Latour, our most senior swimmer represented Victoria in Canberra as part of the State team. Based on the current performance of our swimmers, we hope to see more of our athletes selected for these teams in the future. Congratulations to Piper. #GoLoreto
