Electrical Safety Statistics Fatalities From 1 July 2015 to 30 June 2016 there were: 16 electrical deaths recorded in Australia 1 distribution network related death caused by an electrical accident 90% of the deaths associated with the electricity supply network in the last 16 years involved contact with overhead conductors 17 deaths involving customers’ installations, appliances or equipment 67% of electrocutions were either non-electrical workers or the general public. *Statistics from the Electrical Fatal Incident Data 15-16 - ERAC Work-related injuries An industry profile compiled in 2015 found the most common work-related injuries experienced by workers were: cuts and open wounds (31%) sprains and strains (21%) chronic joint or muscle conditions (16%) These injuries were mainly due to: hitting or being hit by an object (31%) lifting, pushing or pulling objects (30%) falls from a height (15%) * Statistics from SafeWork Australia (Construction) injuries

Just a few changes to the electrical standards this year A large number of new clauses and changes to AS/NZS 3000:2017 are due to be released soon, including: 194 explicit changes to the new version of the Wiring Rules 6 new appendices 54 completely new clauses Section 7 has been completely re-written Current Connections will be upto date with all of them!
