facebook.comTips for IELTS Reading - Multiple Choice Questions: • Read the questions before you read the text. • Paraphrase the information in the question and options. • The answers will be in the same order as the text. Try to locate the answers accordingly. • You will often be able to eliminate 2 of the four answers and this leaves you with two choices. Select the one which closely matches in meaning with the text in the passage. • Don’t be tricked by the examiner’s ‘traps’ especially keywords from the questions that look the same as the text. Always go with the meaning. • Before deciding on your answer, always go back and carefully read the questions before making your final decision. • Know the difference between facts and opinions. Facts are things that are always true or cannot be disproved but opinions are just what people think. • If you are running out of time or you really don’t know the answer, have a guess. You will not lose marks for wrong answers and you have a 25% chance of getting the correct answer just by guessing.

PTE Reading Fill in the Blanks : Some tips to handle these questions: - First read the whole text quickly to make sure you understand the general topic and meaning. - Remember that some words often go together to form a familiar phrase. This is called ‘collocation’. Using collocation can help you recognize the correct word for each blank. - Read around the blank in the text and decide what part of speech the missing word is. Eg noun, verb, etc. - Your knowledge of grammar can also help you to get right answers. Eg. certain prepositions can help you judge the correct word for the blank. - Always start with the fillers that you are sure about. First fill the simpler ones and then predict the fillers for the remaining.
