Below are some answers to some commonly asked questions Whats the age for players to play? The competition is social mixed, this is a beginner competition so i am happy for Primary aged kids to join as long as they understand Adults are playing also. Any secondary school age is fine. What if Ive never played touch before, can i still come down and play? Tonights night is all about the newbies, Touch Football is a sport you can pick up straight away so regardless of level come down and give it a go. What are the rules? Touch is played across a 70m by 50m playing surface with 6 players on each side. A game is played over 2 x 20min halves. The main rules are that the ball can't be passed forward or dropped if this occurs its the other teams ball. Each team gets 6 possessions with the ball to make it to the opposite end where they aim to score a touchdown by placing the ball over the scoreline. When a player gets touched they have to put the ball between their legs, the first person to pick up the ball under someones legs is the Dummy Half they have to pass it at some stage to another member of their team. The defending team has to retire back no less than 5m everytime a touch is made failure to do so means they are offside and the attacking team can get a penalty and another set of 6 posessions. What happens after tonights come and try? Tonight there will be the registration, once this finishes i will start to create teams, you can then be involved in these teams for the remaining 5 weeks. I will then send you a registration link that will require payment via credit card. If you dont have credit card then you can provide cash.
Swan Hill not long to go till our Come and Try night. Below is a overview of how tonight will run. 530pm- Touch Football Victoria representative David Diack will be setting up the fields at Ken Harrison Reserve off Yana St. 6:25pm- David Diack will introduce himself and then we will go through the introduction section. 630pm- David Diack will run a basic "How to Play Touch Football" session, the length of the session will be dependent on numbers. The session will be game play and based around getting you ready for the following week. Teesha Jonkers will be assisting with registration and she will be taking your phone number, email address and name. She will be set up with table and chair right next to the fields on the carpark side. Registration process will be open all night. 730pm- This part of the session is open for any large groups of people ie 6+ and David Diack will run this session also. There are 2 fields marked so once you have learnt the rules you are more than welcome to continue playing. Following the night David Diack will aim to create based on numbers teams, this is a mixed competition so we will work the competition based on the numbers we get. If you cant make tonight but are interested please make sure you send a message to David Diack on 0431420142.
