Arabian Stallions Around the World Wide

Next time I see someone chasing their horse around a round yard, this rooster will come to mind. Such a pointless "exercise" that even a rooster can do it! Chasing is not training!!

Andrew Hoy and the Eventing Formula – Part 1 | The Horse Magazine – Australia's Leading...

This is exactly why I often ask students to take their stirrups up... Balance is the foundation of movement, at least healthy movement. And if the rider is unbalanced, the horse has zero chance of being balanced himself. Lots of tips from Andrew Hoy, written a while ago... “Let’s think about the balance of a horse. We know the horse cannot travel in good balance if the rider is out of balance. In some instances, by shortening a rider’s stirrups dramatically, it makes them ride in their own balance as opposed to having their legs wrapped around the horse, gripping and hanging on. To give you the extreme; if you ride dressage length over showjumps you can grip and hang on with your legs. If you move your stirrups to jockey length, then go to jump, you then have to ride in your own balance, because there is no way to keep your leg on the horse. Those are the extremes. I will force riders to ride in their own balance so they don’t rely on the saddle or the horse to stay on.” http://www.horsemagazine.com/…/andrew-hoy-and-the-eventing…/

Clara Mehel Equestrian Services is proud to be trialling the Vertix Communication wireless headsets for the equestrian market. I use it for coaching riders in training and warming-up before competition. The sound is very clear and sharp, and the helmet mounted headset is practical and safe (ie. not in the way of ribs or hips in case of a fall). I have used other communication systems but the Vertix has far more features and better sound quality. Huge thumbs up for Vertix!!

Vinnie's first official dressage comp yesterday at CDG. A day of ups and downs! 👍👎First test he caught me completely by surprise when he did a 180 shy/spin up the centreline, and unfortunately rest of the test was very tense = last place! 😐If we're going to do badly, at least we do badly spectacularly! 😂He redeemed himself in the next test - still a bit of tension in the walk, and not relaxed enough to be able to show off the fancy trot that he's developing, but finished 6th on 60.3% (only 3% off second place). Thanks to Madonna Hedberg for warming us up for that test - huge help!! And more important than placing and score is that he worked well amongst the other horses in warm up (he used to be quite worried about working close to other horses) and overall it was a positive training experience!! 🌟Good boy Vinnie!

Andre McLean about attachment theory

Interesting research findings, I am always surprised at how much horses respond to touch - scratch, pat or just a hand on face or body. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Bt3akRTQ1rU&sns=fb

So proud of Vinnie this weekend! 👏 He travelled well, worked quietly in fairly busy warm up arenas and was very focused in his second test. He was a little tired by then and that was reflected in the scores, but he still tried his little heart out and I couldn't have asked any more of him! Lots of things to work on too, but as a just-turned 4yo and over 17.2hh, what a good boy! Thanks so much to Vinnie Cooper for entrusting me with the ride, and to Emma Flavelle for all her help coaching, including taking time this weekend to help me out! And thank you to the Vinnie fan club for your support!!! Including an awesome plait job by Helen Huie! 🌟🌟🌟
