Hi Everybody. I have been super busy and haven't posted during the past three months or more. Here's a couple of cool parts from this weeks work. A Big Block Chevy Tri-Power intake from a 427 4-speed Corvette and a set of 8 custom made stainless steel throttle bodies for a GT40 replica :) These had some discolouration from the welding. The owner wanted this removed, and a uniform satin finish. Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year!!

This week I received a box containing some Suzuki crankcase covers and Mikuni carbs. I don't know who sent it to me, so if it's yours, please give me a call :)

If you have an interest in vintage small block Chevy parts, it doesn't get much cooler than this! Here is a set of Corvette script rocker covers and a Rochester fuel injection setup from a '57-on Corvette. In 1957, the 283ci SBC made 1hp/ci with this intake and by 1964 the injected 327 was making 375hp with the 'double hump' fuellie heads. The Fuellie heads inherited their name from this type of intake. Anyone who knows me, knows I love this stuff :) Before and after Vapour blasting pics:

Porsche people, it's your turn again :) Here's a pair of 911 rear control arms and a front crossmember ready to be returned to the guys at TD Automotive for new bearings, bushes and reinstallation :) If you have parts like this removed from your car for repairs, it's worth going the extra mile to make them look like new again.

Here's a few parts I cleaned this week from a 1940's WLA Harley Davidson military motorcycle. The owner disassembled it in 1975. Forty years on, it's about to be rebuilt :) Before and After pics, click for full size:

This Moto Guzzi has been doing it tough in a damp environment in Hong Kong. Vapour blasting has restored these parts to look as good as new! I know of no other method that can achieve this result on aluminium castings :) Click on the pics to see the detail.

This is a cylinder head and barrel from a little '71-'73 Honda SL125. Apologies to the many generations of wasps who have raised families and called these parts 'home' throughout the years :) Before'n'After pics....

I have been offering ZINC PLATING as an add-on service for some time, but have never advertised this. Here are some pics of some work I did today. This is what really makes a quality restoration stand out among the rest. Re-plating is ideal for linkages, brackets, clips/clamps, small springs, carb parts and those unusual OEM fasteners that are almost impossible to find new replacements for. I offer a yellow/gold dichromate finish, or silver/clear as per the pics below. For more info: http://www.vapourblastingbrisbane.com.au/zinc-plating/ Please share with your car and bike building buddies!!

Something different today. Most of the pics I post show nice shiny vapour blasted aluminium parts. I also offer a traditional sandblasting service. This is arguably the best way to strip paint and remove all traces of rust when preparing steel parts for repainting. These pics show a fuel tank and forks from a '76 Honda Z50.

My restoration customers often ask if the Vapour Blasting process is abrasive, and if it will erode and remove small details from their delicate and valuable castings. I picked up this $5 swap meet carb as a demonstration piece. It was pretty ugly, but the fine lettering on the underside was perfect for showing how gentle this process is. The carb is a Holley model #1909, original equipment on 6 cylinder Fords up till about '63 I believe. Any dry blasting technique used on these old die cast pieces will erode the edges of the lettering and make the flat area around the words appear pitted. The flushing and cushioning action of the water based slurry used at low pressure in the Vapour Blasting method is gentle enough to clean, but leave the fine detail undamaged. This also makes it safe to use for engine internals such as pistons. No media is embedded into the aluminum as can happen with dry blasting methods. Phew! Long post.... Thanks for reading :)
