Richmond Community Garden Group - RCGG
Description
RCGG is a not-for-profit incorporated society that was established to encourage all sorts of community gardening in the inner-city suburb of Richmond. Our aim is to create more opportunities for gardening here, both for growing food and for bringing people together to share and learn from each other.
Our first major project is at the new Burnley Backyard facility in Tudor Street, due to open early in 2015. This innovative development for a 'public backyard' was designed in partnership with the Richmond Community Learning Centre to provide the sort of indoor/outdoor facilities that are lacking for people who have no backyards of their own, like the residents in the many new apartments and units nearby. The garden areas will provide individual garden plots for rent and communal areas for sharing.
We are also working on other innovative inner-city gardening projects within Richmond, such as planter boxes in the streets, community fruit tree harvesting and garden sharing.
Please like our page to keep up to date with the progress of the Burnley Backyard site and to get information on the events, talks and happenings run by the Richmond Community Garden Group.

🌞We had a good turnout for the AGM last Sunday. Here are the highlights: Bonnie Fulford is our incoming President. Marg Randall is our Treasurer for another year thank goodness. Trish will continue as Secretary for a few month until we resolve that vacancy. Other Committee of Management members are Andrew Tytherleigh, Dale B, Danielle Heaven and Judy Harley. We have 15 new members since the last AGM, 9 of whom joined the waiting list for a rental plot. Many people who inquired about membership didn't join because plots not instantly available – there is unmet demand for plots in the local area. Overall membership didn’t change as some people have moved away from Richmond. 7 plots given up over the year and reallocated to people on the waiting list. All original applicants who missed out in July 2015 now have plots. Pam Cohn ex CoM member did a great job of thanking outgoing President Trish Pringle and awarding her lifetime membership of RCGG. 🌻🌻🌻 Trish has worked tirelessly to transform the idea of a community garden into an asset for the local community. Trish's perseverance, vision, determination and patience has been integral in achieving a wonderful legacy 🌻🌻🌻 #rcgg #communitygarden #ediblegarden #kitchengarden #burnleybackyard #thanksTrish

All RCGG members (not just plot holders) are invited to attend the AGM and we are looking for new faces! The Committee's role is to manage the RCGG as a whole, rather than the rental plots. Now that the garden is well established, we would love to hear some fresh ideas, and see more involvement from our members in 2017. Please email Trish for any questions regarding committee roles. 🐝The AGM will be preceded by a working bee from 10.00 am to 11.00 am, and followed by drinks and nibbles at 11.30 am - 👏🏻feel free to bring something to share for celebrating your successes in the past year. #RCGG #kitchengarden #ediblegarden
