Wow! Great work Port Augusta! A whopping 313 nominations from 67 different businesses & individuals in the Rowe Partners Port Augusta Outstanding Business Awards 2016/17 were received. The final number of entries across all categories was 76 & competition has been very strong. Now we're busy going over them carefully to score the various nomination responses & determine our winners. It's certainly not an easy task when so many great entries have been submitted. ***ATO SCAM ALERT***ATO SCAM ALERT*** An aggressive and quite sophisticated scam is duping Australians into paying money supposedly owing to the ATO. Callers ring and often leave messages asking scam victims to call back urgently in regard to a debt owing for unpaid taxes. Using threats of legal action, they attempt to intimidate people into paying money by various means. Important to note - The ATO will NEVER request payment of monies over the phone. All such requests are made in writing. Should you ever receive a phone call from the "ATO" regarding a debt, politely inform them that your financial affairs are managed by your accountant and that you need to refer the request to them before any payments can be paid.
