Percy's VZ GTO came in for a full combo switch up from his previous LS2/Vortech combo making 535rwhp. We removed the LS2 and fitted an L98 engine that we had previously prepped for a basic pump fuel turbo deal. Percy supplied a Killaboost single turbo kit along with a Borg Warner 67mm Billet Wheel S400 turbo and a Plazmaman FMIC. Lundy Race Fab got to work finishing up the Wastegate Port, 4" dump merged back into his twin 3" exhaust and full custom Intercooler Pipework. Big Blue was on the hunt for an 8 last night!! And if he got it it would of been a mean feat doing it all of the footbrake and with the 28 spline borg warner diff!!! But that was what let us down, after doing a 9.11 and then a 9.09 both at 157mph with very slow 1.59 and 1.6 sixty foots we had the launch sussed and turned it up for the last pass when it snapped the passenger side axle on the hit! Milkos Ute still dialled in with a PB last night (just) of 9.11@153.9mph on a 1.46 60ft (backed up by a 9.18@154mph on a 1.50 60ft). Managed to get our head around the rear suspension last night and get the shocks dialled in to where we need them. This ute when raced 6-7 years ago by the previous owner was ran on a 29x11.5" full slick so all the rear suspension had been setup for that. Only now have we really started to push the car in the 60ft we had found the flaws in the rear suspension on a 275 radial tyre. After some adjusting of its fairly basic Koni double adjustable shocks we got it to make the 4000rpm/11psi launch look lazy (instead of buzzing the tyres). Now its really time to turn up the hit on a good track and send this thing! 90's model Commodore Utes getting all the love today! Matt's VS Ute came in to finish off a few minor bits and pieces and a full tune to suit his new Turbo LS3 combo. We set up the SBE LS3 last year with the usual camshaft/spring upgrade, oil pump, Manley stainless valves, ARP head bolts etc and changed to reluctor and cam gear to suit the LS1 ECU. Mat assembled the ute with his custom turbo manifolds he sourced with a GTX4202 and 50mm turbosmart wastegate then sent it to Cronic Customs for Intercooler piping, dump pipe and full exhaust. There it is!!! In the last few months we set ourselves a goal with this car. To run an 8.2x and to run 170mph! Tonight we done it, and skipped the 8.2's and went straight to the 8.1's!! 8.16@170mph with a 1.27 60ft on a 275 radial! This engine package still blows me away. Basic Dart SHP 8.2" short motor, 368ci, 205cc cylinder head and a pair of $1,500 Borg Warner SX-E 62mm turbos all @ 3600lb on leaf springs!
