The pronunciation of “酉” (yǒu) in ancient China is the same as “劉”( liú )  and the old word of “酉” (yǒu) is also one part of  “劉”( liú ). Liu is the family name. The meaning of “酉” (yǒu) is “full-up” and “everything is matured and completed”.  “酉” (yǒu) is also the old word of wine (“酒”). In ancient times, there was a sign with the word “酒” (wine) on it outside the building to show travelers that they sold food and wines here.
