Hi guys - I am trying to find someone who's willing to drive from Newcastle to a country destination around 4 hrs away - pick up some rescue animals - then drive back to Newcastle. must be able to drive a small manual van and we will pay the fuel and your lunch. This has to be done either tomoro Thursday - or Friday, or the animals will be in danger of euthanasia, so we need to get them out of there fast. 2nd Newcastle Stardust Circus Protest

Community members will come together for the 2nd time to protest against Australias largest animal circus, Stardust Circus. Our aim is to highlight the fact that circuses with exotic animals are actually banned in Newcastle, thanks to Animal Liberation back in 1997. But due to a loophole in legislation, Stardust have set up at McDonald Jones stadium (the Newcastle Knights Stadium) because its not council owned land. It is however State Government owned land, so how can our own elected coucils ban, be basically overruled by state government? This loophole needs fixing and animal circuses need to move to people only circuses as they are outdated and wrong. A wild animal belongs in the wild, not performing tricks in a big top. Much of their life is actually spent sitting around in cages either travelling to and from each town they will show at, or waiting until the show start time. Animals are sentient beings that should be allowed the same rights as any feeling breathing creature is. We understand these animals are captive born and that a circus life is all they really understand and know unfortunately, so we dont ask that these particular animals are forcibly removed from the only families they know - just that they cant breed more for the future, and that once these creatures are retired, then thats the end of the cycle. Thank you for supporting and being a voice for these animals.

Newcastle community members come together to protest the use of animals in circuses. Stardust is Australias largest animal circus, and use lions, monkeys and horses amongst other animals in their performances. Circuses with animals do not belong in the 21st century. Everyone welcome.
