facebook.comThe reason c3 is shifting our usual Wednesday opening is due to our involvement in An Act of Showing: ARIs and Place, an exhibition curated by Anabelle Lacroix and part of a research project directed by Maria Miranda. The exhibition contemplates, embodies and provokes conversations about place: How does place matter for artists? Why do ARIs exist in specific places? What is the place of practice? Writer Chris Kraus’s ‘radical localism’ points to the importance of the local places of art-making compared to global-centrism noting that ARIs create 'an opportunity to remain in one’s own community and assert an alternative ethos.' c3 is excited to contribute to this ambitious project which connects the artist run network in Australia and South-East Asia. c3 has contributed a work for this project developed by Jon Butt and Benjamin Woods. What’s on
Does developing an explosive sound art performance with an acclaimed artist sound like your kind of thing? Our friends at Abbotsford Convent are looking for volunteers to join Canadian artist, Juliana España Keller, for a five-day-residency, culminating in a public performance at the Convent on Saturday 27 May. Using kitchen appliances as you’ve never seen or heard before, Sonic Alchemy is a ‘see-it-to-believe-it’ experience. Registrations to join this residency close Monday! See the Convent’s website for more. http://bit.ly/2qy4qn2
