We hosted our first Fidget Spinner Frenzy as part of our school holiday activity! Skilful spinners gathered to make their own custom made fidget creations to be in the run for ‘Best overall Fidget Spinner’, ‘Longest Spin at one time’ and ‘Best Fidget Spinner trick’. The winners of each category got to take home a fidget spinner created on one of our library 3D printers.

Randwick's fabulous Art Deco cinema, Randwick Ritz, celebrates its 80th birthday this month so we've dug out the original Building Application from our archives. The theatre on St Pauls St was designed by architect Aaron Bolot, a Crimean emigrant who designed a number of theatres across NSW. It was built at a cost of £10,000 and completed on 12 July 1937. #FlashbackFriday

We celebrated National NAIDOC Week in our Undercover Book Club this week. 17 little book worms read ‘My mum’s special secret’ (by Sally Morgan and illustrated by Ambelin Kwaymullina), decorated paper boomerangs and talked about Indigenous artwork.

School holiday fun continues here at Randwick City Library! Talented teen artists got hands on in our 'Draw Together' session, animating online with Queeky - draw online and Toonator. Online drawing tools are "in the cloud" so there is no software to install, it's all done in a web browser and can be easily shared online.

Congratulations to our inaugural 'Little Spark! Discovery Club Plus' graduates who have successfully graduated from our hands on course that lays the foundation of life-long learning. The program saw the children’s potential nurtured and developed through a wide variety of science experiences.
