Why Aboriginal Symbols? We want to be part of an Australia that positively values the culture and symbols of our indigenous people.

We continue to reflect on Hope & Rebirth in Advent. This weekend we focus on the cross, our symbol of Hope. "For thousands of years my ancestors have painted their relationship with the Creator Spirit in caves and rocks throughout the land. Their relationship was a deep spiritual connection with all that had been created, contemplation was a way of life, daily ritual and prayer was their way of worship”. Vicki Clark Mutthi Mutthi

This second week of Advent, we focus on the Aboriginal sacred symbol, the Message Stick. It reminds us that the message of love, hope, forgiveness and peace in the Gospel needs to be handed on. It is our privilege to have the message stick in our Parish, as we are mindful of the sacred message.

This Sunday - the 1st Sunday of Advent, the coolamon will enter our liturgical space. It is a receptacle used by Aboriginal women for carrying food and small babies. We wait for the coming of the Spirit Child to Mary who is also waiting and preparing. It will remain upside down throughout Advent as a sign of waiting and preparing. At Christmas we are called us to awaken to a New Dawn, a “New Dreaming”. The Coolamon will be turned upright to receive the promised Spirit Child. Come & join us as we explore the Australian symbolism. All welcome! https://goo.gl/7dS1hX Mass Times: Sat 5.30pm, Sun 8.30 & 10.00am
